Las Patronas grant enables Neighborhood Healthcare to deploy an additional mobile health vehicle to their fleet

Program to deploy an additional vehicle for greater at-home diagnostic, preventative patient care capability

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (March 24, 2022) – Neighborhood Healthcare, a regional Federally Qualified Health Center providing a wide range of health services, announced that Las Patronas donated $20,000 to the organization to purchase an additional mobile health unit.

This additional vehicle is one of four Toyota RAV 4 vehicles that bring at-home diagnostic and preventative patient care to individuals who cannot easily access one of the health organization’s centers.

“Our skilled practitioners provided 5,934 home visits in 2021,” said Mario Osornio, Operations Manager and Mobile Health Team Project Manager at Neighborhood Healthcare. “The interest and need continue to grow, and we’re ready to respond, thanks to the generosity of so many people and organizations, including Las Patronas. With their help, we can ensure everyone gets access to quality, compassionate, whole-person care regardless of circumstance.”

Las Patronas possesses a long history of giving. Since its inception in 1946, the philanthropic organization has donated nearly $25 million to more than 1,000 charitable institutions in San Diego. All funds raised by Las Patronas stay in San Diego County and are distributed to many small grass-roots nonprofits as well as larger, more visible organizations.

Neighborhood Healthcare’s Mobile Health Team provides a “safety net” for patients identified as high-risk or who lack the resources to acquire those services on their own. A Project Manager, Mobile Services assistant, and a Better Health Specialist operate each vehicle in the San Diego and Riverside County areas. Services include administering COVID vaccines, performing blood pressure checks, conducting lab draws, facilitating telehealth connection with providers, and operating retinal scans to detect early signs of vision loss due to diabetes.
