Neighborhood Healthcare seeks participants for multiple drug studies

Escondido, Calif. (Sept. 2, 2026) – Neighborhood Healthcare, a regional Federally Qualified Health Center providing a wide range of medical, dental, and behavioral health services, is calling for participants for a series of research.

The community health organization’s Institute of Health arm seeks to determine the effectiveness of medicines in development for obesity, knee osteoarthritis, and COPD.

“Clinical research allows our patients and communities to help shape the future of healthcare,” said Edgar Bulloch, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Neighborhood Healthcare. “By participating, individuals can contribute to the development of new approaches to preventing and treating chronic illness while helping ensure that the communities we serve are represented in the research that informs tomorrow’s care.”

To qualify for the obesity and knee osteoarthritis study, individuals must:

  • Have a Body Mass Index greater than 27 
  • Have a clinical diagnosis of knee OA and experience pain due to this 
  • Be 18 years or older 
  • Be able and willing to adhere to study procedures 

To qualify for the COPD study, individuals must:

  • Be between 40 and 75-years-old. 
  • Have a moderate to severe COPD diagnosis
  • Have a history of receiving treatment for a COPD flare-up
  • Be able and willing to adhere to study procedures
