Neighborhood Healthcare Purchases Escondido Medical Building

Neighborhood Healthcare, a regional Federally Qualified Health Center providing a wide range of services, formally announced its purchase of the Escondido medical building at 488 East Valley Parkway at a recent City Council meeting.

Neighborhood is planning significant service expansions at the facility it has operated in since 2022.

“Escondido is where we started providing quality, compassionate, whole-person care to individuals and families more than half a century ago,” said Alex Nunez, COO of Neighborhood Healthcare. “Acquiring this building will enable us to provide greater access to care to those who need it, regardless of their situation or circumstance.”

Current Neighborhood Healthcare services at the facility include prenatal, laboratory, behavioral, and general medical care. The organization intends to continue them while adding offerings such as pediatric and behavioral health services. Neighborhood Healthcare also desires to allocate space at the East Valley Parkway building for medical trials.

“We will also keep the partnering private medical tenants currently in the building to provide services such as cranial realignment, general laboratory services, outpatient surgery, endoscopy, gastroenterology, and cardiology,” said Rakesh Patel, MD, CEO of Neighborhood Healthcare. “Doing so aligns with our ‘Better Together’ mantra of helping communities be healthier and more prosperous.”

Neighborhood Healthcare currently operates 30 facilities throughout Southern California, serving more than 100,000 patients in over 500,000 visits annually. Escondido is home to more than 50,000 of its patients.
