– Poway Community Foundation’s grant supports families with young children at Neighborhood’s Gold Family Health Center, regardless of their circumstances –
Neighborhood Healthcare (Neighborhood) believes every child deserves to be healthy and happy through every stage of life. It also believes that lifelong well-being begins with healthy lifestyle choices and regular well-checks and vaccinations for children from birth to age five. Many families, however, are unaware of their ability to access the resources they need for their children to achieve and maintain wellness, including quality pediatric healthcare.
“The Pediatric Provider partners with parents to ensure their child is reaching physical and social developmental milestones and protected from preventable diseases,” notes Dr. Paige Thiermann, Neighborhood’s San Diego County Medical Director,” healthy habits in the early years will provide the building blocks for lifelong health.”
The Neighborhood Gold Family Health Center, conveniently located at 13010 Poway Road, offers compassionate, culturally sensitive primary care, pediatrics, behavioral health, and other services to more than 8,400 individuals. Still, more than 4,000 Poway residents who are eligible for community healthcare are not assigned a medical home.
Focused on reaching the youngest residents to ensure healthy starts, the Poway Community Foundation and the facility’s namesakes, Alan and Debbie Gold, are supporting pediatric care access, which includes well-baby and well-child checkups, immunizations, school physicals, pediatric weight management, and more. Many families are unaware of their child’s eligibility for Medi-Cal benefits and access to healthcare. To improve awareness, the Poway Community Foundation has granted $5,000 to Neighborhood to increase awareness of its pediatric health services in Poway, particularly for children aged five and younger. In support, the Gold Family has matched the funds with an additional $5,000 to ensure that more of Poway’s families are receiving care for their children.
“We’re beyond grateful for the Poway Community Foundation and Alan and Debbie’s continued trust in our work,” said Rakesh Patel, MD, CEO of Neighborhood Healthcare. “Their generosity today supports our mission to provide quality, comprehensive, compassionate care to everyone, regardless of their situation or circumstance.”
