ESCONDIDO, Calif. (February 18, 2021) – Gabriel Rodarte, M.D., Behavioral Health Medical Director of Neighborhood Healthcare, a regional Federally Qualified Health Center providing a wide range of medical, dental, and behavioral health services, received board certification by the American Board of Preventative Medicine (ABPM).

The accreditation covers the full spectrum addiction medicine practice.

“Becoming board certified takes significant dedication and deep understanding of complex medical matters,” said Rakesh Patel, MD, CEO of Neighborhood Healthcare. “We’re very proud of Dr. Rodarte’s accomplishment and are proud to have him lead our Behavioral Health team as part of our mission to offer quality, compassionate care to everyone!”

Rodarte graduated from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine in 2002. He specializes in Family Medicine and Psychiatry with an emphasis on addiction disorders. Rodarte is also affiliated with Riverside University Health System.

“We believe continual learning and knowledge sharing will lead to better quality care for our valued patients,” said Rodarte. “This is part of our mantra of delivering whole-person care to everyone, regardless of their circumstance. I’m honored to achieve this designation.”

According to the organization’s web site, ABPM Board Certification is a trusted credential important to patients and relevant to physician practice. Board Certification is voluntary and differs from the medical license process. Obtaining a medical license sets the minimum competency requirements to diagnose and treat patients; it is not specialty specific. Board Certification demonstrates a physician’s exceptional expertise in a specialty and subspecialties of medical practice.

Board Certification is a peer-developed, externally-validated program that recognizes a physician’s dedication to a higher standard of care. Certification reflects the critical core physician values of compassion, patient-centeredness, and a passion for education. Patients, physicians, health care providers, insurers, and quality organizations consider certification as the best measure of a physician’s knowledge, experience and skills to provide quality health care within a given specialty.
