Cancer
Detection Program (CDP) located
at all Neighborhood Healthcare sites in San Diego and Southwest
Riverside counties provides
for pap smears, breast exams, mammograms
and breast cancer treatment for women 40 years and over. Formerly
called the Breast Cancer Early Detection Program (BCEDP).

Health Access Project located
in Temecula and serving Southwest Riverside County assists
women in obtaining breast exams and mammograms
for women 40 years and older living in Southwest Riverside

The Community Health Programs Department
provides presentations on a variety of health education
topics:
*Healthy
Families/Medi-Cal Programs. Certified application assistants
can provide information about low or no cost health insurance
programs available to qualifying families
* Breast Health Education Program. Learn about breast
health issues, mammograms, free services offered to target
populations and special event schedules
*HIV/AIDS Education. HIV prevention information is offered
and free HIV testing is provided.
*Teen Life Skills
* Dental Education. Learn proper brushing techniques and
healthy eating habits to care for your children's teeth

Oral
Health Initiative in North Inland
and East San Diego County (Escondido
and Lakeside dental centers)
is to promote better oral hygiene in children ages 0-5
and in pregnant women. Dental services and Dental education

project is funded through the First 5 Commission of San
Diego and managed by the San Diego Council of Community

Project
Dulce Diabetes Management program located
in Escondido, Temecula and
El Cajon is a diabetes management program that was developed
with Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute and partially funded
by the County of San Diego to improve access to quality
health care services for underserved and unfunded individuals
with poorly managed diabetes. The target population is largely
Latino. It provides comprehensive diabetes care using certified
diabetes educator nurses and using promotores to provide
peer education and support in nutrition, life style changes
and fitness. Promotores also provide case management under
this model. Referral by Neighborhood Healthcare provider

Diabetes
education in El Cajon and Lakeside
is
a self-management program targeting uninsured and underinsured
diabetics to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness

Healthcare
for the Homeless
Outreach
and medical services for
the homeless in both North Inland and East San Diego County
providing medical, dental and mental health care. The program
provides for three medical and dental visits a year and also
covers a visit to the eye doctor to include a pair of prescription

We
offer INS medical exams, a requirement
for anyone applying for legal residency or citizenship
in the United States.
Exams
are available weekdays by appointment only either at
Neighborhood Healthcare ~ Escondido at (760) 520-8100
or Neighborhood Healthcare ~ Pauma Valley at (760) 742-9923.
Fees
for the exam are $150, plus laboratory and immunizations.
Additional costs may vary depending upon specific government
requirements for type of application and country of
origin.
Patients
will also need to bring a government-issued photo ID
and BCIS physical forms, which may be obtained online
at ww.bcis.gov/graphics/surgeonportal.htm, from INS
or from your attorney.

prenatal care programs are
offered in Escondido, Pauma Valley, Temecula and El
Cajon. Program includes medical care, health and nutrition
education, WIC assistance, dental care and other services.

the medical care for the frail elderly and those with dementia.

Senior Peer Program
meets every Friday in Escondido at 425 N. Date Street. This
support group was developed to decrease isolation of monolingual
Latino seniors. This is a free service. Call Irma for more

Teen
Services
Teens
Take Care Pregnancy Prevention Program in
El Cajon aims at improving adolescent health by reducing
teen pregnancy, promoting delayed and responsible parenting,
and increasing community awareness of teen health issues.
Comprehensive sexual education classes and referrals for
clinical services are offered for youth ages 15 to 19.
The project is in collaboration with San Diego County
Migrant Education Department, San Diego Adolescent Pregnancy
and Parenting Program, and the El Cajon Collaborative.

Outdoor
Outreach
in East County offers confidence building trips for kids
with ADHD from the Lakeside health center. Outdoor Outreach
provides rock climbing and several other outdoor activity

Association.

KP
KIDS ~ Neighborhood Healthcare
located in El Cajon,
Lakeside and Escondido is a free health promotion
program offered in English or Spanish that helps to
improve the ways families eat and exercise. It is
designed for children age 5-12 years and their family
members. Its goal is to promote healthy eating and
increased physical activity. Classes are every week
for six weeks.
Each class is 1 hour and 40 minutes long, divided
into nutrition education, physical activity, medical
services, and behavior change education.
